Course Description

AP Computer Science Principles introduces students to the foundational concepts of computer science and challenges them to explore how computing and technology can impact the world. With a unique focus on creative problem solving and real-world applications, AP Computer Science Principles prepares students for college and career.

AP Computer Science Principles Information

AP CSP is a broad introduction to computer science. The class can be taken by those interested in Computer Science and want to find out what it is all about! Everyone is welcome; a passing grade in Integrated Math 1 is recommended before taking the class. However, students who are strong in Math may take the class if they are comfortable.

 

One-half of the class will focus on an introduction to computer programming in the JavaScript language (both block- and text-based development environments are available).

 

The other half of the class will focus on big ideas in the field of computing including the Internet, Digital Information, Data and Data Encryption, and relevant issues in the field of computing such as Net Neutrality.
