Mrs. Madden graduated from UC Irvine School of Fine Art, specializing in print-making and mural painting. She also took classes in costume design and worked in the UCI costume lab where she helped sew costumes for a production of "No,No, Nanette" starring....our MVHS drama teacher, Mrs. Carol Jones, another "anteater". :) Today, 30 years later, their students collaborate, behind the scenes, in Mission Vista Timberwolf Productions.

Mrs. Madden enjoys painting scenes of Oceanside where she lives. She has a very Impressionistic style.

Figurative Drawing and Design...Imagining, sharing and creating.

Learning about printmaking (and having some fun!)

Art lives at the corner of Creative Thinking Way and Problem-Solving Road

Mission Vista Students thrive in an atmosphere which combines direct instruction in art techniques and media with opportunities to experiment and take risks. Many students will comment,"I can't take art. I can't draw..." The response to that is, "Take Art 1 and you will learn to draw...and paint ...and make prints..." The only thing that keeps many people away from creating their own art is the misconception that they have to strive to be "as good" as someone else. The truth is that trying to create like someone else robs the world of our own personal style. Everyone's style is unique and we learn from each other as an artistic community.

"Draw what you see...Not what you think you see." Art 1 students warming up to a new project with multiple practices seeing Visual Forces, Value contrasts, Form and Focal Points

Spatial Collages! "You are a little person on a chess board...What do you see?"

Art students volunteer for school wide art design needs. This year?? Mural in the weight room?? Who can help with that?
