Dave Sanders

About Dave E. Sanders, M.Ed.

Dave Sanders went to North High School, Torrance, CA where he played football, wrestled, was Editor of the North Wind, and ASB President. He also played football at Orange Coast College, Costa Mesa, CA. Mr. Sanders received an AA in Gen. Ed. at El Camino College, Torrance, CA and transferred to Cal State Dominguez Hills where received a BA in History with a minor in Spanish. He then received a Master of Arts in Multicultural Ed. from the University of San Francisco. He completed his Teacher Prep courses at the University of Miami. Mr. Sanders also worked for the Social Security Administration and the Department of Defense. He later worked for the Northrop Corp. B-2 Bomber Division in Pico Rivera, CA. Mr. Sanders taught Social Studies, English As A Second Language, Bilingual Ed. and coached football at the high school level in Miami, FL. He returned to California in 2006 where he taught Social Studies and coached freshman football at Vista HS. He has been at MVHS since 2010. 

Mr. Sanders is a Native of Southern California with an interesting heritage. His paternal grandmother could trace her lineage to Spain and Mexico, with one great great grandmother, Dora Lopez, who was a 'soldereda' in Pancho Villa's army. His maternal grandfather's ancestor was one of the founders of Jamestown, Virginia in 1607. In the same lineage his sixth great grandfather, Thomas Price, fought in the French and Indian War as a member of the British Colonial Militia and the American Revolutionary War as a member of the Virginia Militia under the command of the Marquis de Lafayette. 

Mr. Sanders was in the 40 Military Police Battalion, California Army National Guard then transferred to the US Coast Guard Reserve where he served at Base Terminal Island, San Pedro, CA. He is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. He is also a Cantor in the Orthodox Christian Church and assists at the St. John the Forerunner Orthodox Chapel at USMC Camp Pendleton. His hobbies are reading, camping, classic rock music, discussing history, philosophy, religion, and politics.
