Study Skills

Hello, my name is Mr. Walker.  I have been involved in education for almost twenty years.  Aside from being a teacher I am also a member of the Council for Exceptional Children (an organization committed to effectively teaching students with special needs).

The purpose of the Study Skills class is to develop students’ academic skills. This course will focus on building study habits, developing organizational skills, and enhancing abilities in the areas of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The Study Skills curriculum is divided into the following topics: Writing, Transition, Time Management, Self-Advocacy, Organization, Interacting with Complex Text, How to Study, Growth Mindset, Goal Setting, and Conflict Resolution.  Students will also have the opportunity to receive support with assignments from other classes.
